Designline Manufacturing-JMI Sales

Founded by John Van Schaik in 1992 with partners John Mates and Joseph Brotherton, Designline quickly became the innovator and leader of the kiosk, cart and modular store market in the 1990s. John Van Schaik’s extensive background in manufacturing furniture, along with his knowledge of metals, electric, plumbing, plastics and computer technology, melded together to offer growing brands a method to scale quickly.

Designline built a vertically-integrated enterprise that consisted of design, architectural and mechanical planning, wood, metal, plastic, and solid surface manufacturing, as well as complete electrical, electronic and plumbing integration services for its customers. Designline was the innovator of the “Store in a Box” concept, in which all the components were shipped to the store ready to assemble quickly and launch in hours or days, versus previous methods that took months. Installations were performed by in-house technicians who crisscrossed the country assembling kiosks, stores, carts and retail fixture rollouts.

Some of the brands for which Designline manufactured were:

• Starbucks Coffee • Saks Fifth Avenue • Jamba Juice • Nestlé America Corporation • Marriott Corporation • Iomega • Network Solutions • Surf City Squeeze • Todo Wraps • Briazz Sandwiches • Aramark Food Services • Colombo Yogurt • General Mill • Betty Crocker Cafés • Sherwin Williams • Costco • Nike • Adidas • AT&T • Sprint • Boeing • American Eagle Outfitters • Stock Pot Soups • Coca-Cola • Cinnabon

Designline also secured a design patent for a can cart it fabricated for Coca-Cola-See Patent
